Dennis Winkler Sr., whose spiritual name is Baba Ausar I, was born in Meherrin, Virginia, on May 2, 1956. Baba Ausar has always had a love for martial arts; as a child, Baba Ausar used to cut down corn with a machete imagining the corn as his opponents on the battlefield.

He has owned and operated an upscale barbershop for many years, taking on a trade passed on from his father. His formal martial arts career started in 1983 in the Brothers of Ma’at of Baltimore MD of the Universal Afrikan Church; his instructor’s name was Ninja, who taught him Karate. An operator of Universal Healing Services in Baltimore, Maryland.

 

Baba Ausar has taught many students martial arts. He has taught at various senior centers, boys group homes, private sessions, The Afrikan Village and Cultural Center of Baltimore, Sojourner Douglass College, Brothers of Ma’at rites of passage in Baltimore MD, and is a dedicated teacher to his ongoing Tai chi class named “The Essence of Master Jabril.”

 

 He furthered his martial arts career with Kyoshi Arnold Mitchell, a world champion fighter in sho ren Ryu Okinawan karate; He furthered his career under Renshi Kasama’s Instruction, where he earned a Black Belt. Baba Ausar began the art of tai chi chuan, chi q, Xing Yi, Bagua. And spirituality with master Jabril, He further developed his understanding of tai chi and meditation with Dr. Chen at Karan hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. 

 

He furthered his education in chi q and Chinese medicine under Dr. Ian Noel’s instruction, the owner and operator of Universal Healing Services in Baltimore, Maryland. Baba Ausar has taught many the arts; he has taught at various senior centers, boys group homes, private sessions. Shōrin-ryū (少林流) Okinawan Karate

Uechi Ryu is a traditional Okinawan Karate style. This style was named after Kanbun Uechi and was initially called Pangai-noon in China, which combines hard and soft. Uechi Ryu is highly influenced by the Chinese martial arts style ‘Kung Fu.

Xing Yi Quan "Shape-Will Fist“

 

 

 

Xing Yi Quan Classes

Xing Yi Quan is classified as one of the internal styles of Chinese martial arts. The name of the art translates approximately To “Form-Intention Fist”, or “Shape-Will Fist”. Xing Yi is characterized by aggressive, seemingly linear movements and explosive power that’s most often applied from a short range.
